Zion Franklin Zollicoffer

Zion Franklin Zollicoffer was born to Wesleyon and Candy Zollicoffer on May 14th, 2020 in Omaha Nebraska, he was the youngest of 4 siblings.

Zion’s life was marked with absolute joy. His smile, hopeful eyes and laughter would light up a room and make anyone in proximity burst into the biggest grin. He was a warrior and embodied incredible strength. As a young boy, he faced complications with Peutz Jeghers Syndrome, a rare disorder in which growths called polyps form in the body. Zion underwent many procedures and surgeries over the last two years to help manage his care. Zion's story has opened up the door for more research and started the process to change the assessment age for gastrointestinal concerns from adolescent age to 15 months old.

Though he faced many trials his family and community will remember how he enjoyed nature, bike rides, books, neighborhood walks and the excitement he expressed as he watched planes fly overhead. He especially loved when the ice cream man drove through the neighborhood and the thrill of giving him a dollar in exchange for a cold treat in his hand.  When his parents were away, he would show such delight upon their return. Zion had so much love for his mom and dad, siblings and enjoyed life in abundance. He will be missed by his family, friends, and community who rallied around him in support and love.

He is preceded in his passing by his Grandparents (Frank Foster and Sherry Zollicoffer, older sibling Abel Zollicoffer (miscarriage) and leaves behind his mother Candy , father Wesleyon, as well as siblings Kaiden, Nyomi, and Justus.

The Zollicoffer Family is in the early stages of establishing a foundation in Zion's honor to assist families who care for children with rare and chronic diseases.
