Willie Franklin was born in Winchester, Arkansas on December 19, 1946 to Jeffrey D. Franklin & Melvernus Dancer. Both Preceded him in death, and his step-father Major Page.
Willie was ordained under elder Frank Likely as an elder at Gethsemane! After elder Likely retired. Elder Franklin in united with the COGIC Congregation, under Pastor Bishop Dancer whom he affectionately called “UNK”. Elder Franklin’s spiritual life after accepting Christ also included singing, he was a deacon and enjoyed preaching and witnessing to those not of the fold. He worked for Ready Mix for several years. After retirement he was not one to sit still. He worked with his step brother driving a truck. As his health deteriorated, he would keep busy visiting Sam Young Shop, witnessing, & covering when help was needed.
He loved his church, and everyone loved him. He was a unique man. You would be motivated when you spoke with him. He was a “comedian”, he would use rhyme to make his point. His favorite quote was “Satan will whip you from the pillow to the post”
His favorite food was fried chicken. Some affectionately called him “Chicken Man”. Elder Franklin presided over many day services. He always encouraged the men to “stay ready”. He never stopped preaching God’s word. Elder Franklin was someone you could always count on when you needed help. He loved his family, he loved people. He had no children, but was a mentor to many.
Willie Franklin was preceded in death by brothers Amos Page, Lee Edward Page, Joe Louis page, sisters Calara R. Page, and Mae Lee Page.
Willie is survived by his wife whom he loved very much. Diane Orduna Franklin; Brothers Kieth W. Page, & Allen Page; Sisters Bettie Page, Verta J. Page, & Brenda Page; A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other family. He is also survived by his oldest living relative, Bishop Howard Dancer, who he affectionately called “UNK”. Other relatives and friends.
Visitation Thursday 10 - 11 AM at Roeder Mortuary. Funeral Service Thursday 11:00 AM at Roeder Mortuary. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
