William (Bill) J. Stromenger, 73, of Erie, PA, Gretna, NE and Fort Myers Beach, FL passed away Tuesday October 4, 2022, in Gretna, NE.
Bill was born April 23, 1949, in Erie, PA to William and Marie Stromenger. He graduated from Academy High School in Erie, PA. He attended Penn State Berend graduating from the GE apprentice program. He was employed at General Electric, Transportation Division for over 40 years. During his time at General Electric, he held various positions including welder, foreman, Operations Manager in North Platte, NE, started the Southern Pacific Railroad service account in Pine Bluff, AR and Denver, CO and ran the entire Union Pacific Railroad service account in Omaha, NE. He also had his own welding business, cofounded LeBeouf Energy oil and gas drilling and production and owned a Napa store in Wesleyville, PA. After retiring from General Electric in 2009 he enrolled in the HVAC Program at Metro Community College where he graduated with honors. He started Allstar Cooling and Heating until retiring for a second time in June 2019.
He enjoyed boating, racing snowmobiles and motorcycles, NHRA drag racing, hunting, cooking, handball, racquetball, pickleball and spending time with family and friends. He was a great mentor at work and for his family. He could build & fix anything and always had a solution when we called with a problem.
He went through Hurricane Ian at his condo in FMB, FL. After the hurricane passed, he was instrumental in evaluating the damage to the Condo Association Property, including checking individual Condo's and emptying refrigerators. He helped people he didn’t even know with their property and worked with FEMA to get older couples out. He was evacuated by the National Guard on October 2nd.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William H and Marie R Stromenger.
Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Susan, son, Michael (Lisa) Stromenger, daughter, Michele Sullivan, grandchildren, Sarah (Jake) Adams, Sammy Giddings, Sadie Giddings, Alaina Stromenger, Tyler Sullivan, Bailey Sullivan, Bradley Sullivan, great grandson, Brantlee Jones and sister Karen (Mike) Bearss.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Roeder Mortuary, 11710 Standing Stone, Gretna, NE.
