Willard F. Huetson

Willard (Bill) F. Huetson passed away on April 13, 2025 at the age of 93. One of six children, he was born on January 18, 1932 to Earl and Nelle (Mollins) Huetson of Adams, NE.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, to whom he was married for 75 years. He met Marilyn, also of Adams, at the age of 5. They were high school sweethearts and were married on April 2, 1949. Together they raised a family of 6 children: Beverly (Ivan) Young, Rick (Nancy) Huetson, Larry (Deb) Huetson, Randy (Jeff) Huetson, Andrea (David) Mach and Holly (Jeremy) Kirby, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. They resided together in Gretna NE for most of their lives.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Bill was a lifelong sports enthusiast, with a particular fondness for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He held season football tickets for many years never missing a game. Growing up he played many sports including football, baseball and basketball. An accomplished athlete, he held many state records in basketball and was eventually recruited by the Cornhuskers and offered a scholarship.

Following high school he continued to play in several men’s leagues including teams in Lincoln, Gretna and Omaha competing at a high level.

Bill was also an avid fisherman and small game hunter. He enjoyed fishing in Minnesota and took vacations there with his family every summer, spending time at Kitchie Landing Resort. He also enjoyed fishing at Sherman Reservoir and earned a Master Angler award for catching an 8lb 4oz walleye which was 27 inches long.

Bill worked at Western Electric/AT&T in Omaha for 40+ years in the cable plant. His last several years were spent in their offices using his expertise as a business analyst and consultant.

Bill was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Visitation Friday 9:00 - 10:00 AM at church. Funeral Service 10:00 AM Friday (4/18/25) at Gretna United Methodist Church 11457 S 204th Street Gretna, NE. (with luncheon to follow) Interment Friday 1:30 PM Adams Highland Cemetery at Adams, NE.
