Warren (Reggie) Yates

Warren Reginald "Reggie" Yates, 82, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on May 24, 2026.

Reggie was born on October 15, 1943, in Centralia, Washington, to Warren Clinton Yates and May Gunder Thompson Yates.

He graduated from Central High School in Davenport, Iowa, where he distinguished himself as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. During his high school years, he earned numerous athletic honors and was crowned Homecoming King. Following graduation, Reggie proudly served in the Army National Guard. He later attended college before transferring to Wayne State College, where he continued his football career and was selected as a team captain.

In his younger years, Reggie enjoyed racing his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and playing baseball. As the years passed, golf became one of his greatest passions, providing him with countless friendships and cherished memories. Beyond his personal interests, Reggie was deeply committed to his community and dedicated much of his time to organizations including Rotary International, the Wayne Main Street Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce, and Wayne State College Catbackers.

Reggie is survived by his son, Jared Yates; his brothers, Perry Yates and Tom Yates; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Louise Yates; his mother, May Gunder Thompson Yates; and his father, Warren Clinton Yates.

Reggie will be remembered for his athletic spirit, community involvement, unwavering dedication to those he cared about, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of so many.
