Ena Wanda (Davidson) Neaderhiser was born in Clay County Kansas February 5, 1919, to Zera O. and Ida Frohardt Davidson, the fourth of five children. She died October 1, 2023 in Omaha, Nebraska.
She married Harold F. Neaderhiser August 13, 1939. They met at Kansas State University where both were taking classes to maintain their teaching licenses. They were married 72 years at Harold’s passing in 2011. They lived in several Kansas towns including Milford, Maple Hill, Council Grove, Ellis, Talmage, Delavan, Edson, Manhattan, Abilene and Wichita, and Davenport, Iowa , before moving to Omaha in 1966.
Wanda was valedictorian of her high school class in Wakefield KS. She also attended the University of Wyoming. Her love of education began with kindergarten in Detroit KS, one of the only schools offering kindergarten at that time. She began teaching in one room schools and later taught upper elementary students.
A lover of nature, she was a longtime Ivy League garden club member and judge, and a charter member of the Audubon Society. For a time she was the “answer person” for the Omaha Audubon Information Hotline. Her faith memberships included First and Rockbrook United Methodist Churches in Omaha, Sunday School classes and United Methodist Women. Reading and book clubs were important. Wanda was a long-time resident of Sunridge Village in Omaha. Her final year was in the care of Espirt Whispering Ridge and Suncrest Hospice.
Wanda is predeceased by her parents and siblings and their spouses: brother Elmo Davidson (Hazel Willits); sisters Tabitha Lowry (Delbert); Helen Kee (Ralph); and Wanita Cartner (Ralph).
Survivors are: daughter, Ida Joyce Thompson (R. Wayne) Shawnee KS and grandson Robert W. Thompson (Margaret Schramm) and great grandchildren Elliott and Stephanie; and grandson Trevor R. Thompson (Laura Yamhure) and great grandchildren Carter and Kaia; son Harold Alan Neaderhiser (Judy Hoffman) Omaha NE and grandson Matthew J. Neaderhiser (Tara Gonzer) and great grandson Noah. Wanda also leaves her sister-in-law Myrna Neaderhiser, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21st at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St. in Omaha with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. A burial service will be held at a later date at Keystone Cemetery in Clay County Kansas.
