at the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 5 days in Dewitt, MI. He was born May 21, 1924 in Omaha, NE. The son of Walter C. and Karen M. Mailand, Walter proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World II as an anti-aircraft gunner in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged . He worked for Mutual of Omaha in various capacities for 39 years, 7 months and 23 days, retiring with Group Pensions. He was the first president and charter member of Certified Employee Benefits Specialists . Walt was an avid reader and in recent years never went anywhere without a book. He also enjoyed reading with the 2

graders at Conestoga School. He was an active member of the Tangier Shrine, Omaha Golden K Kiwanis Club, and Morning Star Lutheran Church. Walter sang in the church choir and the Shrine Chanters for many years. He was a lifelong Husker football fan . Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Frances Mailand. Walter is survived by his son Tom ; grandchildren, Kevin, David, Nicole, Andy, and 2 great grandchildren
