Virginia Smith

Virginia (Ginny) passed away at the Cottages in Papillion after a brief battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband: Richard; son: Gregory; sisters: Priscilla Martinez and Ruth Campos, both of Topeka KS. Preceded in death by her son: Jeffrey A Smith.

She chose nursing for a career and graduated as a Registered Nurse, RN, from Storm Mont Vail, Oct 1953. After working several years in Topeka, she joined the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant, adding Flight Nurse to her job title at Shepard AFB in Texas, and meeting her future husband, Richard, who was also in the Air Force. They married and the Air Force sent them to Germany for 3 years then Wisconsin, New Mexico, California, and finally Omaha NE. 

She loved crafts of all kinds, and was a skilled Tole Painter, Quilter, ceramic worker and making Prayer Shawls for the church.

Services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church 508 Angus Street Gretna, NE 68028 on March 11, 2025, with a viewing at 9:00 AM, and a mass at 10:00 AM, with luncheon to follow.

Flowers may be sent or memorial contribution may be sent to your favorite charity.
