Tina Mae (Harvey) LaMay, age 96, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on December 29, 1928, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to the late Carlena (Graham) Harvey and John W. Harvey.
Tina was preceded in death by her son, Nathan; her brother, David; sisters, Jeanne, Rita, Shirley, and Marcella; her beloved grandson, Keith; her son-in-law, Eddie Jr.; and her best friend, Noriana Glover.
Tina was a lifelong woman of faith and a member of Second Baptist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was full of life and joy, loving to collect T-shirts, dance, and listen to gospel and jazz music. In her early twenties, she worked as an elevator operator at a department store, and she was always quick with a joke or a prank, bringing laughter to her siblings and children.
In the late 1970s, Tina proudly went back to school to earn her GED. She later worked as a teacher’s aide at a preschool in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1979, she moved to Omaha to be closer to her son, Doug and continued her work helping others as a special transportation aide for Omaha Public Schools until her retirement.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her children: Donald, Marie, Marjorie, Lynnelle, and Doug; her daughter-in-law, Penny (widow of Nathan); her brother, John; grandchildren: LaShonna, Shara, Shayla, Ayla, David, Tiara, and Amber; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a very dear friend, Rose Johnson, who visited her often while she was living at the House of Hope and during her hospitalizations. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends will also deeply miss her warmth, humor, and spirit.
A livestream of the funeral service will be available on Friday, May 9th.
