Thomas “Tom” J. Miller was born in Omaha, NE on November 24, 1942, to Donald and Helen (Bessey) Miller. He passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, after a rough battle with numerous illnesses.
Tom was the oldest of three children, preceding sister Dianna and brother, Jan. He grew up in Omaha, attending Benson High School and eventually graduating from Tech High School in 1960. After graduation, he followed in his father’s footsteps by obtaining a job at Western Electric, where he put in 42 years before retiring in 2004. Tom was drafted into the United States Army, serving from 1962 to 1970, where he was stationed at bases in Fort Riley, KS, and Okinawa during the Vietnam conflict (he was a member of the 175th Ammunition Ordinance at Kadena Air Force Base). Western Electric held his job until he returned from deployment
Tom met the love of his life, Beverly Miller, while home on leave through mutual friends and family members. He proposed before being deployed to Okinawa and they were married on April 22, 1967, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson. They were blessed with three children (Terri, Kelli, Todd) and had 56 amazing years together.
He was extremely passionate about his Faith, being baptized at the age of 42, and very involved in the church; from youth group to several positions on the Council, chair of the ILCM, bible study groups, and so much more.
Tom held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his adult children. He was always there for them, whether he was helping them change the oil in the car or cheering them on in every endeavor.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen Miller, and sister Dianna Poledna. He is survived by his loving wife Bev; children, Terri (Jeff) Meek, Kelli (Art) Limones, and son, Todd Miller; grandchildren, Cassie and Justin Meek, Trinity, Trey and Dakota Limones, and Kalyn and Ashlyn Miller; step-grandsons, AJ and Robey Limones; 2 great grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren; brother Jan (Dayla) Miller; many nieces and nephews; as well as a multitude of friends he made throughout his life.
