Terry Townsell Deroma

Service Time has Changed:  New Service time is 11:30 AM.  Services will be livestreamed below.

Terry Towns Derma was born to Darlene Adams, Robert Adams, and John Mitchell on December 26, 1972. She was first born of four, followed by brothers Robert, Markeis, and Marvin.

Terry attended Lothrop and Saratoga Elementary, Horace Mann Middle School (now Martin Luther King Middle School), and North High School. She graduated from TAC in Omaha, Nebraska. She went on to achieve her CNA license and spent her career working/ serving in the North Omaha community.

Kind and caring, Terry was our First Lady, and first of so many things - Firstborn in her family, first to have a girl, first to bear a grandchild, first cousin, first sister, first niece. She was also 'first' to welcome all the neighborhood children into her home. Terry, also affectionately known as Mommy, Nana, Ter-Bear, and Bear, was an amazing cook. Her signature dishes included stew meat, rice, and potatoes (her husband's favorite!) and beef stew with cornbread. You never saw Terry without a fan and a cup of crushed 'hospital ice.'

An avid reader, she was a big fan of Carl Weber, an American author and owner of Urban Books. Terry also loved to swim, adored her elephant collection, and was first to cheer on the Denver Broncos! Last but not least, she loved Pac-Man and was a pro at navigating through the 1980 action video game maze!

Terry was a constant force in the lives of all her family. Though her children were 'spoiled,' she was a strict disciplinarian who would beat her children (not whoop!) should they dare to stray from the right path.

Terry is preceded in death by great-grandmother, Gertrude Lane; grandmother, Sally Townsell; mother, Darlene Adams; husband, Gabriel Deroma; brother, Marvin Townsell; aunts, Cherly Holbert, Yvonne Townsell; cousin, Kremasha Townsell; niece, Idalyne Merriweather-Townsell; son, Joshua Jamal Townsell; and granddaughter, Ke'arie Jor'nae Grabbingbear Townsell.

Terry leaves behind her children, Shamika Townsell, Keyondra Townsell-Foster, Clifford Townsell, Rachel Deroma, Janay Crawford and Tyeisha Idheroma; two brothers, Robert Townsell and Markeis Townsell; cousins/sisters, Angela Townsell and Victoria Conway; grandchildren, Niashya Townsell, Keonis Foster, Shanya Hardy Townsell, Braydon Schmidz, Sophia Berry, De'mya Hardy, Da'vion Hardy, JayCionna Fisher, Charlsetta Fisher, Kentrell Anderson, and Zamyra Mitchell; and a host of world-wide family and friends who loved her.

In the last days of her life, she left us with these parting words,

"You all better get your stuff together, or you ain't going to heaven acting like that."
