Dr. Terrence Francis Ciurej, 79, peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Born on August 1, 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska, Terry was the beloved son of Edward and Gertrude (Tworek) Ciurej. He attended Archbishop Ryan Memorial High School and later pursued his education at Creighton University, graduating first from Pharmacy School and then Medical School.

Following his education, Terry served as a Captain in the U.S. Army from August 5, 1972, to August 1974. During his service, he contributed to the development of protective garments for public officials at the U.S. Army Land Warfare Laboratory. He was honorably discharged in August 1974. Returning to Omaha, Terry established himself as a dedicated General Surgeon in private practice until 2011, when he joined Omaha MEPS, serving until his retirement in 2018.

Terry's dedication to hard work and attention to detail was evident throughout his life. His commitment began early, as he diligently tended to his newspaper delivery route. In recognition of his exceptional service, Terry was honored with the service award for National Newspaper Boy Day in 1960, boasting a nearly flawless record for his route. Later, this same attention to detail served him well in his academic pursuits, propelling him towards his careers as both a Pharmacist and later as a General Surgeon.

In his free time, Terry found solace and joy in the pages of books, a passion he lovingly shared with his grandchildren. Among his favorites were the classic tales of Dr. Seuss, which he delighted in reading and re-reading to his grandchildren, bringing smiles and laughter to their faces.

The family farm held a special place in Terry's heart, and was where he found peace and fulfillment. He dedicated much of his free time to raising racehorses, cherishing memories of thrilling races at ASKARBEN and journeys to Kentucky with the family during which he spent countless hours teaching his children about music and sharing his passion for the classics.

As a surgeon, Terry's compassion knew no bounds. He deeply cared for his patients and found immense fulfillment in extending a helping hand to those in need.

Terry is survived by his daughters: Jessica Quick (Justin), Sarah Ciurej (Justin Hardin), and Brooke Ciurej; his cherished grandchildren: Cadence, Zachary, Kinsley, and Alexander Quick, James, and Charlotte Hardin.
