Deacon Stephen C. Grandinetti, Jr (Steve)

Emblem

Stephen was born to Julie and Steve Grandinetti in Omaha in 1943. He has 3 siblings Judy (Bob) McMahan, his older sister, Mary Kay O’Shaughnessy (Terry) and John Dave Grandinetti were both younger than him.

He began dating Rose Dinovo when they were teenagers.  They married February 19, 1966.  During this early time in his life, he served his country in Vietnam and was later stationed in Kansas at Fort Leavenworth.

Steve and Rose have 3 children.  Twins Stephanie and Jolene (Mike) are 7 minutes apart and Steven (Marti) in 3 years younger than them.  Steve has 6 grandchildren.  Hannah (Zak) Schlemmer- Hayward (31) Halley (Kenny) Schlemmer- Harvey (29), Sarah Reilly (25) Jack Reilly (22), Jillian Grandinetti (18) Elizabeth Grandinetti (16).   Steve also has twin great-grandchildren Tre Hayward (3) and Zyan Hayward (3).

Most of Steve’s life he was a salesman.  He began his sales career at Brandies.  Then he sold steel for several different companies in Omaha, Wavery, Tulsa and Kansas City.  But his love was always the Virgin Mother Mary.  He became a Deacon after retiring and served his faith and the Omaha community.

He enjoyed golfing but other than that he didn’t have that many “outdoor” hobbies.  He loved going to Aksarben betting the horses, and after they closed, he watched them on tv.  He would call all these kids and tell them who he had in each race.  He enjoyed betting football and baseball with his mom, aunts and later his son Steven.  Steve and Rose could often be found in Council Bluffs at the “Boats” making small bets and were ecstatic when they left winning $20 or “Breaking Even” as they would say.

In later years the Diaconate program took most of their time.  He did baptisms, funerals, couple counseling and weddings.  Every one of them will tell you that they LOVED Deacon STEVE.  Everyone who encountered Steve can tell you he was a loving, religious man.  He loved his wife and his children.  He told everyone about his love for them.
