Stephanie J. Elting

Stephanie Elting, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Stephanie was born on April 3, 1973, in Queens, New York, to John and Patty. At a young age, her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she grew up and built the foundation of the kind, witty, and spirited person she would become. She attended Central High School in Omaha, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed her signature humor and warmth. After graduating high school in 1991, Stephanie continued her education at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. It was there that she met the love of her life, Brad. Their connection was immediate and enduring, setting the stage for a lifelong partnership built on mutual support, laughter, and love.

Stephanie and Brad eventually returned to Omaha, where she completed her studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, earning a degree in business. She began her career with Union Pacific, where she dedicated herself fully and spent her entire professional life. Her commitment, work ethic, and relationships with co-workers reflected the same sincerity and loyalty she brought to every aspect of her life. Stephanie was given the honor of Last Train Order on January 18, 2026 by Union Pacific Railroad to pay tribute to her dedication of 30 years of service to Union Pacific Railroad.

Stephanie and Brad made their life commitment in marriage on March 20, 1999. In April of 2003, Stephanie and Brad welcomed their daughter, Maya Jean, into the world. Maya Jean was Stephanie’s pride and joy, the center of her universe, and the greatest source of her happiness. Stephanie’s love for her daughter was boundless and evident in everything she did.

Stephanie will be remembered for her quick wit, sharp sense of humor, self-deprecation, and unmistakable sarcasm that could brighten any room. She never liked the spotlight, but the spotlight always found her. She had a deep love for her friends and family, always prioritizing time with those she cared about most. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or quiet moments, Stephanie made everyone feel valued and loved.

Outside of her devotion to family and friends, Stephanie found joy in simple pleasures. She loved being in the water, where she felt at peace and free. She had a well-known fondness for online shopping, which brought her endless delight. Not a day went by during her time at home on hospice without a package delivery for either herself, or a thoughtful gift for someone she loved.

Stephanie’s life was one of connection, kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Stephanie was preceded in death by her mother: Patty Burke; her grandparents: Loren and Jean Bailey and Gabrial and Margaret Sirois; and her niece: Camden Hultman. She leaves behind her husband: Brad Elting; her daughter: Maya Jean Elting; her father: John Sirois; her stepfather: Pat Burke; her sister: Shelley Hultman (Owen and Cece Hultman); her brother: Jason Sirois (Rosalind Kumar and expectant baby Sirois); in-laws: Lee and Sue Elting; and brothers-in-law: Greg Elting (Teri), and Doug Elting (Trish (Alex and Rachel Elting); and many devoted friends and extended family members who will carry her memory forward.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
