Shirley L. McLaurine

Shirley Louise McLaurine (Delespine), 88, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 20, 2023 after a short illness.  

Shirley was born on March 26, 1935, to Laverne and George. Shirley met Robert McLaurine and they wed in marriage going on to have seven children: Marcus, Robert Jr., Sheila, Joni, Jimmy, Leslie and Shirl.  

Shirley dedicated her life to being a wonderful and amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Shirley excelled at building up her family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Her mission was to improve the lives of others and she did so with flying colors. Shirley gave her family everything that she had to give without expectations.  

Shirley filled our home with warmth and kindness. She dedicated her life to Christ and was a member of the 37th Street Church of Christ for many years. We will miss her with our whole heart.  

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband: Robert McLaurine Sr.; her mother: Laverne McGee; her son: Robert McLaurine Jr.; her sisters: Marvel Woods and Leanna Simmons; her grandchildren: Toiya Washington- Brown, Jordan Harrison, Kyle McLaurine, Savannah McLaurine, and Brayce Davis.

She is survived by her children: Marcus (Miyuki), Sheila, Joni, Jimmy, Leslie (Johnny), Shirl; and her sisters: Ruth and Marcia; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of beloved friends and relatives.

There will be a memorial service/celebration of life on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N 108th Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68164
