Ruby Nal Jones, affectionately known as Ruben, was born on March 31, 1936, in Nashville, Arkansas, to the late Aguinaldo Jones and Ruby Clardy. After graduating high school, Ruby proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. Following his honorable discharge, Ruby married the love of his life, the late Naomi Bradley.
Ruby and Naomi made their home in Omaha, Nebraska, where they raised their family and built deep roots in the community. Their enduring love lasted an incredible 65 years, until Naomi’s passing in June 2021. Their reunion in heaven brings comfort to those who loved them both.
Ruby was a dedicated and loyal worker, building lasting relationships during his time with Dellen Labs, Dunkin Hines, and Omaha Public Schools. After decades of hard work, he retired in his early 70s, leaving a legacy of commitment and excellence.
Known for his charm, sharp memory, and deep love for family and friends, Ruby found joy in connecting with others. His passion for the gaming industry made casinos and Horsemen’s Park his favorite places to unwind, earning them a reputation as his “second home.”
While some may have seen him as a grumpy old man at times, those who knew Ruby best recognized his immense compassion and warmth. His wisdom and humor will be remembered forever, especially his signature blessing: “May the good Lord take a likin’ to you.”
Ruby is preceded in death by his parents, Aguinaldo Jones and Ruby Clardy, and his beloved wife, Naomi Jones.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his cousin-sister, Virginia Gardner; his son, Anthony Jones (Sesany Fennie-Jones); his former daughter-in-law, Bonita Sirls; grandchildren Andre Jones, Bradley Jones, Anthony Jones II (Abby Jones), Britne Moss, Brittney Fennie, and Justin Ellis; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, cousins, other family members, and dear friends.
