Roy "Dean" Samson

Roy Dean Samson, 88 years of age, passed away peacefully in his Omaha home. Dean was bom December 10,1937 to George and Carrie Samson. The youngest of the five Samson boys. He lived in humble surroundings after the depression. His parents taught Dean a set of values to live by: be honest, tell the truth, and care for others. He carried these values

with him through his entire life. Dean attended Tech High graduating in 1955 and attended a year of college before starting his career. During this time, he was also a 9-year member of the National Guard. Then he married the love of his life, Dorothy Carroll, on June 2, 1957. To this union came two of his most prized

possessions, his children, Mark and Debbie. He spent 54 years working in structural steel. He was a detailer for Northwestern Steel and Drake Williams Steel. Then worked for his friend Frank Beckman as an estimator. He followed his long career with a full life during retirement. Vacations, football, and being with his friends

and family. If a Nebraska football game wasn't on tv you could find him dancing at the Square Dance Club, driving for the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), helping with the Tech High reunions, or out hunting and fishing. He was an avid storyteller and prankster. Even when dementia set in he

was still entertaining anyone that would listen to his stories.

Dean truly enjoyed life, people, family, and his one true love -Dorothy. He was proceeded in death by his parents George and Carrie Samson; brothers and

sisters-in-law; Leo (Dorothy), Babe (Ellen), Robert, and Bud (Bernice). He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; son Mark (Karon) Samson; daughter Debbie (Mark) Garner; grandchildren Heath Samson, Kristy (Kyle) Rollins, Amy Farmer, Chelsie (Derek) Schmitz; great grandchildren, Kayla (Michael) Motley, Parker (Alyssa) Samson, Cole and Malory Rollins, Miles and Sabina Farmer, Betsy Samson, Klayton, Jayclyn, Brycen Schmitz; great-great-grandchildren Brynlee and Greyson Motley.
