Rose was born February 25, 1923, 101 (and a half) years ago, before television, microwaves, computers, cell phones or social media. She never flew in an airplane. She stayed at home caring for her husband and six children but, later in life, she did more than that.
Rose was an artist at heart and always loved cutting, styling, coloring and perming hair. So, at age 41, she enrolled in evening classes, at age 43 she earned a cosmetology license and for the next 58 years she worked from her home beauty salon. She retired when she was in her 80s and had an active license until her death. She was also a stylish woman who never left the house without her hair done, her makeup on and wearing a pretty dress.
Rose loved her family, her home, being outside tending her flowers, and especially loved the vegetable garden that she planted every spring. She couldn't wait to pick the first ripe tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini, beans and peppers, always making sure there was enough to share among friends and family.
Rose loved to walk, and until a few years ago, well into her 90s, she walked the trails by the health club three days a week before working out. She would try all the classes but especially liked Pilates, dancing and aerobics. She loved the pool, staying in the shallow end using foam weights and then relaxing in the sauna, finishing with a soak in the jacuzzi.
Rose was independent, strong, usually in motion and a force to be reckoned with. She met challenges head on, never gave up or gave in until God called her home. She must have been so happy to see the many loved ones that she missed so much waiting to greet her. Rest in eternal peace and joy, mom; we love you.
