Rosanne Schumacher Klug

Rosanne Klug, 74, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on October 20, 2023 in Omaha. While she will be tremendously missed, her loved ones rejoice that she is now resting in God’s arms. Her love will continue to shine on their lives forever.   

Rosanne Schumacher was born on April 9, 1949, Omaha, NE to Bernice and Joseph Schumacher. The oldest daughter in a family of 10 children, she spoke fondly of her childhood – helping care for new baby siblings, playing in the ocean waves when the family lived in Puerto Rico, road tripping to California in their Volkswagen van, and flying in airplanes that her brothers piloted.

Rosanne studied Early Childhood Education at Creighton University where she met her husband, Gerald Klug. They married on September 27, 1969 and welcomed three sons and adopted a daughter together. Throughout her life, Rosanne was constantly caring for those around her. Lovingly raising her own children, working in local elementary schools, serving residents at New Cassel Retirement Community for 20 years and playing an active role as “Grammy” in the lives of her five grandchildren. She will be especially remembered for her “Grammy hats” which she knitted for her family and of which over a hundred hats were donated to a local charity for children. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed caring for pets and wildlife, and superbly baked huge batches of her famous “Mame cookies” every year at Christmas.

Rosanne is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gerry; sons Chris (Leesu) Klug of Omaha, Ryan (Susie) Klug of Omaha, David (Melissa) Klug of LaVista and daughter Susy (John) Schwede of Atlanta; 4 grandchildren: Faith Klug, Joseph Klug, William Klug and Elizabeth Klug. Brothers: Robert (Ann), Bill (Barb), Walter, George (Penni), Phill (Christy) Schumacher; sisters: Mary Jackson, Cyd Mitchell, Sandra (Steve) Whitham; brothers-in-law: Chris (Peg), Mike (Jan) Klug; sisters-in-law: Kasey (Phil) Latham, Margie (Cliff) Whitley, Ginger Walker.

Preceded in death by her grandson Jonathan Klug and brother Jerry (Elizabeth) Schumacher.  

VISITATION: Thursday Oct 26^th begins at 5:00pm with 6:30pm Vigil at Roeder Mortuaries 2727 N 108^th St, Omaha, NE 68164.

SERVICE: Friday Oct 27^th 10:00am Mass with 11:00am Luncheon at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 1920 N 102 Street, Omaha, NE 68114.
