Gained his angel wings on February 11,2026 at the age of 87.
Ron was born on June 16th, 1938, to Ted and Irene Gartner. He was raised in Hartington, Nebraska.
After high school, on November 9th, 1955, he left for Omaha, NE to be inducted voluntarily into the United States Army. It was one of the largest all- volunteer groups ever inducted in Nebraska. He was stationed in Alaska and spoke often of his time in the service.
After the Army, he came back to Hartington and married Gerelda (Geri Kathol) Gartner. They eventually made it back to Omaha and started a family. They welcomed three children, James, Michelle and Steven. Ron and Geri loved the outdoors and spent much of their family time at the cabin, and boating. Running out of gas on the Missouri river became a normal adventure.
Ron earned his Engineering certificate and built a successful business in the HVAC commercial Industry. He spent many hours on the road traveling across Nebraska meeting Engineers and growing his business.
Ron was bigger than life and had a love for socializing. He spent time hunting, fishing and boating. He had a talent for woodworking and spent many hours in his shop building beautiful things, often for others.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them out fishing, and teaching them his woodworking skills.
Ron is survived by his sister Sharon Murphy (husband Jim). Three children, Jim Gartner (wife Lori), Michelle Martin (husband Greg) and Steve Gartner. He has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Ted and Irene Gartner, His wife Geri (Kathol) Gartner. His grandson Joshua Martin
Memorials can be made to the Hospice house.
A private family service will be held in honor of Ron.
