Omaha - Roger W. Allgood, 79, entered his final resting place on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023. He was born in Beatrice, NE on September 25th, 1944, to Willard and Melvia Allgood. Roger grew up in Wymore, NE and graduated from Wymore High School in 1962. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in May 1962.  He was first stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas then moved to the Greenville Air Force Base in Greensville, Mississippi.

On July 18th, 1965, Roger married his high school sweetheart, Connie Hardin.   Roger continued his service at the Lincoln Air Force Base in Lincoln, Nebraska and was honorably discharged in 1969.  Roger enrolled in the Bryan School of Nursing in the fall of 1967 and graduated August 1970 with his certificate in nursing.  Their son, Eric, was born December 27th, 1970.

Roger enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fitzsimmons Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado.   Roger, Connie, and Eric returned to Omaha, NE in 1973 and he began his career at the VA Hospital as a floor nurse.  Daughter Janet Christine was born October 16th, 1973, and passed away October 19th, 1973.   On June 23rd, 1977, the Allgood Family was blessed with their daughter Heather.   After several years as a floor nurse, Roger switched to nursing in the OR for the remainder of his nursing career.   He retired in May of 2010 after spending 41 years in dedicated service to the Government of the United States of America.

Roger was always passionate about his military service and his nursing career.  For the last few years, he has really enjoyed monthly luncheons with his Army buddies.   He loved to read – always had several books at home, in the car and with him on vacations. He cherished all the time he spent with his grandchildren and has left them with many wonderful memories.  In his spare time, he often did word searches, crossword puzzles, and watched the History Channel, Lawrence Welk, and Bob Ross.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Melvia Allgood, parents-in-law, Adelbert and Christine Hardin, brother DeVern, and infant daughter Janet.  He is survived by Connie, his wife of 58 years, brother Larry (Pam), son Eric (Jenny), daughter Heather (Jay), grandchildren Katie, Neva, Koen, Chance, and Kalin, extended family and many friends.

Christmas 2023 will always be a treasured memory as the entire family celebrated with plenty of food, gifts, and typical “Papa Stories”.
