Omaha -
MURPHY, Robert Anthony, age 82, of Omaha passed away on February 8, 2023. He was born June 7, 1940, in Omaha, NE.
Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy right out of high school, serving our country from 1957 to 1961. His innate charisma made him a natural salesman, achieving great success with Physicians Mutual Insurance Company for over 35 years. Bob and his loving wife, Mary, spent over 50 years together enjoying a life of travel, the company of good friends, and golf, which naturally led to them becoming two of the most lively and illustrious members of Oak Hills Country Club. He was also involved in numerous clubs and charities over the years, from helping to plan shrimp feeds to being a bell ringer during the holidays. Between work and play, Bob was an avid reader, taking a special interest in all things history. In his quiet time, he enjoyed a good book with an even better side of Jameson.
Bob is survived by his sister Kay Murphy, brother Fred Murphy, the members of the Ariza family: Angie, Lisa, Greg, Dean, and Dan, and the Lovelady family: Jeff and Beth, as well as his brothers-in-law John Cvilikas and Ray Galsche, his nephew Matthew Cvilikas, his nieces Melissa Berry and Shelly Berry, his loyal dog Bogie, and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Agnes Murphy, his wife, and his sister Sue Ariza.
CELEBRATION of LIFE will be April 16th from Noon to 3pm at Oak Hills Country Club, 12325 Golfing Green Drive, in Omaha. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for The American Heart Association and The Nebraska Humane Society.
