Robert L. (Bob) Howell was born on August 14, 1931, to John Merl and Maurine Gregg Howell.  He was the middle child and had two siblings: John Charles and Helen.

 

Bob grew up in Ottawa, Kansas, and later Omaha, Nebraska.  He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  It was during his service that he met the love of his life, Betty. Betty and Bob married on September 3, 1955, in Brainerd, Minnesota.  They had four children: Robert (Rob) Jr., Thomas, Sandra, and Diane.

 

Rob married Barbara Greer and blessed Betty and Bob with three grandchildren: David (Kristen), Elizabeth, and Christopher (Tara), and one great-granddaughter: Myriam.  Sandy blessed them with two more grandchildren: Nolan (Chelsea) and Jeff, and one great-granddaughter: Ila.  Sandy is married to Steve Nicholson.  Diane married Jeff West and blessed them with their last two grandchildren: Thomas (MaryEllen) and Matthew, and one great-grandson: James.

 

Bob was a great husband, provider, and protector of his family, and they could always count on him.  He was an avid volunteer at different points in his life serving as a Sunday School teacher, PTA President, Boy Scout Leader, Benson Band Booster, and as an active member of Living Faith Global Methodist Church, where he was a founding member.  He was a member of the Tangier Shrine, the Scottish Rite, John J. Mercer Masonic Lodge, and the Optimist Club of Omaha. 

 

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and their infant son, Thomas, his parents, and his two siblings.  He is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

 

Visitation Tuesday 5 -7 PM at Roeder Mortuary. Funeral Service Wednesday (10/4/23) 10:30 AM at Living Faith Global Methodist Church 5310 S 182nd Ave. Omaha. Memorials to Living Faith Global Methodist Church. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
