Age 89 - Rita Jerins was born in Riga, Latvia. Her family fled the Soviet invasion of Latvia in 1944, eventually immigrating to Nebraska. In 1952 she married Gunārs Jerins and they had four sons. Rons, Edgars, Toms, and Alexanders. Throughout her life she created artwork, a lifelong passion that she inherited from her father Ansis. When the opportunity arose she took classes at UNO. She worked at the historical Society of Douglas County Library, a job Rita really enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ansis & Olga Cepure; sons, Ronalds, Toms, Alexanders, and brothers, Uldis and Janis. Survived by her son, Edgars, (Alana) Jerins; granddaughters, Ruby and Sterling.
Internment of Ashes: Saturday (11/19/2022) 11 AM, meeting at 10:45 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 7909 Mormon Bridge Rd., Omaha, NE 68152. Following the internment there will be a visitation for family and friends from 2-3 PM and a Memorial Service at 3 PM at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St., Omaha, NE 68164.
