Richard A. Odermatt

Rich Odermatt grew up in Ralston, graduated from Ralston High School class of 1968. He was married to his beloved wife Cindy for 55 years. Rich was many things to many people. He was proudest to be a loving husband, dad, Papa, Brother, Cousin, friend, neighbor and mentor. Being a proud family man one of his great joys was spending time with family especially his grandchildren. When he was able, he really enjoyed attending sporting events, cheer competitions, and other school activities. Nothing put a bigger smile on Rich’s face.

Rich was a dedicated and successful small business owner in the Millard area for over 4 decades. He was a hardworking man who always provided for his family and put them first. He had a strong sense of community as he was a member of many local boards and organizations. He was a pivotal member of the Nebraska Iowa floorcovering association trying to further participation of younger members of the local community to try floorcovering as a career.

Rich was an avid Cornhusker and Chiefs fan. As a season ticket holder, he enjoyed hosting parties at the house and on bus trips to Kansas City where he could perfect one of his passions of grilling and tailgating with family and friends. One of his favorite days of the year was the annual pig roast. Rich spent all day making sure the pig was just right adding just the right amount of wood and beer at just the right times.

He will be missed, loved, and forever remembered.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Werner and Rose; sister: Mary Ann Walker; son: Kirk; granddaughter: Kloe.
