Richard Joseph Laughlin

Richard Joseph Laughlin was born on November 23rd, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska to Michael and Mercedes Laughlin. Dick passed away April 18th, 2024, at the age of 74, in Bennington, Nebraska. 

Dick grew up in Omaha, attending Cathedral Catholic for both his intermediate and high school education, shaping the foundation of his successful life. As a child, Dick’s prominent front teeth awarded him the nickname “Buggs”, which stuck with him for years to come. In his early years, Dick worked for Dandy Chicken and Bemis Bag Company. Later in life, he worked for Vickers Corporation for over 20 years. 

Dick had a passion for various hobbies throughout his life. His love for hunting and fishing kept him outdoors often. He enjoyed many camping trips with his children and grandchildren throughout the years. Dick owned countless cars during his life, and later regretted not holding on to many of the “classics”. Dick was a devoted Husker football fan. Like most passionate Husker fans, he hated to see them lose. 

Dick will forever be remembered for his unwavering love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all. May he rest in peace. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Mercedes; sisters Barbara, Trisha, Mary Nell, and Sheila; and brother Pat. He is survived by his wife Debbie; children Amy (Dan), Thomas, and Michael (Chyann); and grandchildren Brittany, Ashley, Jase, Jaxson, and Ethan; sister Eileen; brother Mikey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services to honor and celebrate Dick’s life will be held at Roeder Mortuary - 108th Street Chapel in Omaha, NE. A Visitation will take place on April 25^th, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM. Memorial service on April 26^th, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with a luncheon served afterwards at the Presbyterian Church of the Master- 10710 Corby Circle in Omaha, NE.
