Randal “Dean” Grimm, 62, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Dean was born on October 5, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Richard and Deanna Grimm.
Dean grew up on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and life’s simple joys. From a young age, he spent countless hours helping with the planting and harvesting of corn and assisting his father in raising pigs. He also loved participating in 4-H, where he showed livestock, learned tractor safety, and proudly represented his community in competition. Dean earned State 4-H Competition titles six times and went on to compete at the national level, accomplishments that reflected his dedication, determination, and passion for agriculture.
He graduated from Gretna High School in 1982 and later attended the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture, earning a degree in Agricultural Mechanics in 1984. Dean built a career as a mechanic, a profession perfectly suited to his gifted hands and remarkable problem-solving abilities. He enjoyed working with machinery and could seemingly fix just about anything placed in front of him. More importantly, he took great pride in helping others whenever he could.
More than anything, Dean will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. He loved making people laugh with his stories, quick wit, and playful jokes. Whether he was spending time with family, visiting with friends, or sharing memories from the farm, Dean had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved.
Dean was preceded in death by his mother, Deanna Grimm, and his brother, Daniel Grimm.
He is survived by his father, Richard William Grimm; his nieces, Denise Bay and husband Ryan Bay and their son Bryer Bay; Chastity Self and husband Phil Self and their son Landen Steward; and Maelynn Roach and her son Talon Montgomery. He is also survived by his nephew, Matt Ideus and wife Misty Ideus, and their children, Oliver Ideus and Emma Ideus.
Dean is also lovingly remembered by many extended family members, including Pat Spearman and son Rich Braesh Jr., wife Johanna, and their children Jake, Emily, Sophia, Emma, and Ellie; Rich Jr. and Dean had a very special relationship, Kelly Blair; Deb Hughs; Mike and Kristie Ehlers; Karen and Ted Wzorek; Mike Grimm; and Sue Grimm.
He is further survived by his uncle, Alan Grimm; his aunts, Judy Carlson and Carol Ehlers; along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Dean’s memory will live on through the laughter he shared, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely to those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Roeder Mortuary, Inc., located at 11710 Standing Stone Drive in Gretna, Nebraska on Friday, May 29, 2026. Funeral services will also be provided by Roeder Mortuaries.
