Peter Sanchez

Born August 25 ^th 1934 in New York City Died December 22 ^nd 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska Peter passed away after having lived a rich, long and loving life. He is survived by his loving wife Nelly, daughters Patricia Waterbury, Anita Sanchez, Nancy Sanchez, Denise Anderson and grandchildren James Lon Waterbury, Dr. Laura Ashley Waterbury-Mangus, Daniel Peter Waterbury, Jessica Morgan Sedlock, Wyatt Lee Anderson and Ava Alyse Anderson & great grandsons Brayden Lewis Mangus, Preston James Mangus and Cohen Maverick Michael Cornette. He was preceded in death by his daughter Alyse Nellie Maria Sanchez and 8 brothers and sisters. Peter had a very colorful & interesting life to say the least! For instance, at the age of 15, after lying about his age he signed up for the Navy and served on a submarine for 6 months before his mother was able to get him out. At 18, he was drafted by the Phillies Major League Baseball team at the same time he was also drafted by the United States Army to serve in the Korean conflict. He was an E-6 Forward Observer in an artillery unit. After Korea, he continued working as a graphic artist and attended PRATT Institute in NYC.  He was in this field for 45+ years. Peter has the opportunity to teach at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Being so outgoing, Peter met people from all walks of life. He was a terrific friend that would give you the shirt off his back. Life took him from NYC to Florida and finally to Nebraska. His interests included music and knowing some of the most influential Latin artists his time; boxed professionally with 18 confirmed wins, ran marathons for charities, loved fishing, ate & slept MLB and the NFL Everyone that has crossed paths with Peter has come away having had a lifelong bond with him. Visitation with family & friends will be held on Saturday, January 8 ^th 2022 from 9:30am-11am at Roeder Mortuary 11710 Standing Stone Drive Gretna, NE 68028 with a memorial service to follow.
