Payton Lane Holling was born on August 22, 2001, in Seattle, Washington, a place known for its gray skies—yet from the very beginning, Payton carried a light that followed him wherever he went. That light stayed with him throughout his life and shone just as brightly until his unexpected passing on December 21, 2025.
Payton grew up learning, exploring, and finding his place in the world through the Millard School District, where he ultimately graduated from the Young Adult Program in 2023. School was only one part of his story, though. Much of who Payton was could be found outdoors, on fields, and among animals—places where his joy felt most natural.
He showed sheep through 4H, proudly caring for them and learning responsibility and patience along the way. On the soccer field with Gretna Top Soccer, he ran with determination and heart, always giving his best. Baseball was another passion, and as a member of the River Cats in the All Play Baseball League, Payton played not just for the game, but for the camaraderie and fun it brought. He also rode horses at HETRA, forming quiet, powerful connections that spoke to his gentle spirit.
Payton was deeply loved by his friends, and it was easy to see why. His smile could light up an entire room, and people naturally gravitated toward him. There was something about Payton that made others feel seen and welcomed. He truly loved and cared for everyone, offering kindness freely and without hesitation.
Rarely seen without it, Payton carried his green ring everywhere—a small but meaningful part of him that became inseparable from his presence. Music was another source of joy, and he especially loved playing his tambourine, filling moments with rhythm, laughter, and life.
Payton leaves behind his parents, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with countless friends whose lives are forever brighter for having known him. Though his time was far too short, the warmth he shared, the joy he brought, and the love he gave will continue to live on in every heart he touched.
