Roeder Mortuary:

2727 N. 108th St. Omaha, NE 68164 496-9000 Patricia Lynn Hafits , 68, died November 1, 2020, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born August 25, 1952, in Omaha to Robert and Roberta McGonigle. Pat graduated from Marian High School. She attended Wayne State College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Education. Pat married Larry Hafits in 1982. They were married for 30 years when Larry passed away April 20, 2012. Pat worked as an optician for many years. She then spent the rest of her career working in animal health sales. After her retirement, she worked part time at the Henry Doorly Zoo, a job she loved. Her interests included fishing, camping, playing bingo, playing cards, and family… always family. The thing Pat enjoyed most was being with family. She was a devoted sister and aunt. Pat loved to travel and took many cruises with her husband Larry. She was a best friend to her sister Chris. Pat was devoted to her siblings and missed her parents terribly after they passed. Pat’s proudest title was Aunt Pat. She so loved all of her nieces and nephews. Pat never missed a school program, a sporting event, a speech, an award ceremony, a choir performance, a musical, a graduation, a wedding, or any other event for her nieces and nephews. She was Aunt Pat to everyone. She was known as Aunt Pat by all of her family friends and all of her nieces’ and nephews’ friends. Every time she entered the kids’ school, gymnasium, soccer field, or auditorium, we would hear kids and parents alike saying, “Hi Aunt Pat! Hi Aunt Pat!” Aunt Pat is survived by her siblings, Mary VanRoy; Dennis McGonigle; Mike McGonigle; Colleen Swetala; and Chris McGonigle-Hall and her nieces and nephews, Laura VanRoy-Marinez; Craig VanRoy; Beth Cuniberti; Anne Marie Clay; Colleen Thurman; Kelly McGonigle; Liz McGonigle; Erin McGonigle; Andrew Swetala; Katie Watke; Joel Swetala; Robbie Hall; Laura Williams and Maribeth Hall. She is also survived by 14 great nieces and nephews. Pat, you will be dearly missed … See you later Alligator!
