Norman E. Long

Lt Colonel (retired) Norman E. Long passed away on Sept. 8, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Omaha, NE. He was 98 years old. Norman served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in Alaska. After completing his college degree at Omaha U., Norman joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and he served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife: Millicent Jean Wheeler; his parents: John J. and Cora M. Long; his brothers: Harold, John Jr, Alfred, and Donald; and his sister: Barbara Irvin. Norman is survived by his daughter: Leslie Long; and son-in-law: Manuel Sosa Jr.; nephews: David Irvin and Jaime Martin; and niece: Sharon Irvin.

Service 11:00 AM Friday (10/9/2026) at All Saints Episcopal Church 9302 Blondo St. Omaha, NE; Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
