It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we must announce the passing of our wonderful brother. Nicholas John Burger at the age of 45, who left us on June 28th, 2026, at 12:08 am at Methodist Hospital from Cancer CLL/SLL Richter Transformation. He was born on December 4th, 1980. He was my built-in best friend, protector of many years and constant supporter.
Nick Burger had an unforgettable amount of energy and an unmatched passion for life. Whether he was out tinkering in the garage on a project for the house or yard work, or a puzzle or diamond art in the basement, or playing around with his nieces and nephews, or going out on his motorcycle, or watching sports at the bar with his friends or helping someone with some kind of project Nick gave it is all every day. His dedication to his work from working at CLAAS for over 16 yrs and his newfound love of being a bartender at Thirsty’s Pub for the last 2 years in town couple days a week, where he made a lot of new friends. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends and making others smile at his jokes or giving out hugs to the ladies and making sure others were taking care of by the end of the day.
Nick is survived by his mother: Julie Burger and fiancé: Mike; his brother: Eric Burger and wife: Davianne and 2 kids: Jasmine and Ivan; his sister: Sarah Zach and fiancé: John Burges and 5 kids: Madilynn Zach, Allie Burges, John JR, Virginia Zach-Burges, Georgia Burges. His other sister: Kelly Rodino and her husband: Curt Rodino. Step-mother: Evelyn Burger and her 2 children: Justina and Parker. As well as countless friends who became family along the way. Though he is gone too soon, the memories laughter, and love we share will stay with us forever. Nick is preceded in death by his late father: Clifton Burger and his aunt: Ulrike Otten, and grandparents.
Please join us to celebrate his beautiful life on August 1st, 2026, at Thirsty’s Pub 10746 south 204th street Gretna NE 68028 from 5:00 - 8:00pm. We invite everyone who knew him to bring their best stories and memories to share,
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggested a Go Fund me to help pay down some bills and other expenses along the way. The link is http://gofund.me/f41bc9090
