Gretna - Nancy Lee Sis was born in Kansas City, MO on February 24, 1945. After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease, she passed away on December 15, 2024. She was raised and attended school in Belleville, KS. She was united in marriage to Robert Sis of Belleville on December 12, 1963. They raised four boys, Shannon, Ryan, Gavin, Brenton while they lived in Concordia, KS, and later in Minden, NE. Robert and Nancy moved to Elkhorn, NE in 1992, and currently reside in Gretna, NE.
Nancy was very active in the church, had a strong faith with God, and had a great love for music and singing. She was a self-taught musician, playing the guitar and keyboard. Over the many years, she was actively involved in the church chorus and guitar groups. Because she also had a love for flowers, she enrolled and completed her Associates degree in Horticulture at Hastings Community College while she lived in Minden. She worked in the floral shop while residing in Minden and Elkhorn. Nancy also had a passion for sewing and quilting. Over the years, she created several quilts that she gave to her children, grandchildren and friends. She also generously donated quilts to the church and charity organizations.
Nancy was also quite involved in her four son’s school and athletic events, spending many hours traveling and watching them compete at the high school and college level. She carried on this same support with her grandchildren as they competed in activities while in high school and college. She was a tremendous support system and always encouraged them to do their best. Nancy also made several friends while participating in golf league, bridge card clubs, and community plays. She was not shy about getting involved and showcasing her talents.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Sis, of Gretna; Sons Shannon (Christina) of Axtell, Ryan (Michelle) of Papillion, Gavin (Tracie) of Papillion, Brenton (Melinda) of Omaha; Grandchildren include Parker (Abbie), Ryley, Kynley, Henry, Norah, Anna, Brianna, Jaden; Great-grandchild Collins, and her newest family pet dog, Buddy.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Maxine and Tommy Forsee, sisters Esther and Jeanne, brothers Melvin and Jimmy, and daughter-in-law Shannon Sis.
Visitation Friday 5 - 6:30 PM with Vigil Service 6:30 PM at mortuary. Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday (12/21/24) at St. Patrick Catholic Church 508 Angus St. Gretna.
