Mozell Benard Sterling, Sr.

In Loving Memory of Mozell Benard Sterling Sr.

Mozell Benard Sterling Sr., age 72, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, family, and faith.

Mozell was known for his incredible sense of humor and his gift for making people laugh. He loved telling jokes, bringing joy into every room he entered, and his loud, contagious laugh was often the first thing you noticed and the sound you will remember most. He enjoyed pool tournaments, bowling, fishing, traveling, sharing meals with friends and family, and proudly cheering on his favorite Detroit sports teams.

Above all, Mozell cherished his family. He leaves to carry on his memory his twin brother, Ozell Sterling; sisters Angela (John) Boss, Gwendlyn Williams, and Gail Johnson; daughters Latrice (Leroy) Adams and Monique (Ken) Ryce; son Mozell B. Sterling Jr.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Marjorie Sterling, and siblings Andrew Jr., Winston, Patricia, and Deborah Sterling.

As we celebrate Mozell’s life, we will remember the laughter, love, and joy he so freely shared. His ability to make others smile will remain a cherished part of his legacy. We find comfort in knowing that he lived his life to the fullest and that his earthly journey has now given way to eternal life with his Savior.

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8

May the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the memories he created continue to bring comfort and remind us of the beautiful life he lived.

Mozell will be remembered and missed by those who knew him. Visitation will be at Roeder Mortuary at 2727 N. 108th Street Chapel in Omaha, NE, on 9/14/2026, from 10:00 -10:30 a.m. and funeral services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Military Honors and Burial will take place at Omaha National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
