Mildred Josephine Boyd

Mildred Josephine Boyd passed away peacefully July 23 2023. She was born May 17, 1920. 

After teaching English for decades for the Omaha Public School system, Mildred retired at the age of 65. Her love of being in the classroom didn’t stop at retirement. Mildred continued to help students obtain their GED until the age of 92, when the state of Nebraska discontinued the program. Her work ethic and passion for teaching will always be remembered by those fortunate enough to know her. 

Mildred was an active member of Kappa Kappa, having also served as president. Age never stopped Mildred from enjoying new experiences, and her gentle demeanor and good nature led her to be called Grandma by everyone she met. 

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Boyd, her daughter, Sharon Hawkins, and her grandson Ron Nordstrom, son in law Ron Froien. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Froien, and her grandchildren, Michael Hawkins, Vicki Love, Tracy Froien, Rhonda Froien, Deborah Froien, Chris Froien, and several great and great-great grandchildren. 

Visitation Wednesday 5 - 7 PM at Roeder Mortuary. Graveside Service Thursday 11:00 AM (8/3/23) at Forest Lawn Cemetery Omaha.
