Michele K. Ruff

Michele Kay Ruff, 52, of Gretna, Nebraska, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, March 19, surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded into death by her Parents Roxane Chapman; Clarence Chapman & her niece Dylin Roxane-Rae Vermeer. She is survived by and lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Ryan; son Liam; her father-in-law Henry; her brother Bruce (Monica); Her sisters Lisa (Joey) and Amy (Jesten); and many nieces and nephews and her dogs Leo & Luna.

Born on September 27, 1973 Michele lived a life marked by unwavering faith, abundant love, and a joyful, unmistakable presence. She was a giant in her faith—worshiping Jesus boldly and without hesitation. Whether standing in church with hands raised high or singing from the shores of Belize to the quiet of her own home- up until her last hours, her praise was constant, and her life was a living testimony to the Lord's goodness.

Michele was a faithful attendee of Journey Church, where she showed up with joy and devotion, never missing an opportunity to gather and worship, even at sunrise services. She encouraged her tribe to come to church to worship, this reflected her deep love and passion for bringing others into the presence of God.

She fought a courageous battle, with remarkable strength and grace, giving every ounce of herself until the very end. She rarely let others see the depth of her pain, choosing instead to continue pouring love into those around her. Her strength was rooted in Christ, and now she rests fully renewed in the presence of Jesus.

Michele held tightly to God’s promises, trusting Him fully and walking confidently in His purpose. As written in Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT): “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

She was known as everyone’s biggest champion—encouraging, uplifting, and full of life. Michele filled rooms with laughter and love, gathering people together and making each person feel seen, known, and deeply valued. Being loved by her was a gift that will not be forgotten.

Above all, Michele was a devoted wife to Ryan, a loving mother to Liam, a cherished sister, and a deeply caring aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She poured into each relationship with joy, intention, and a fierce, unwavering love that defined her life.

Michele’s life was a firm foundation built on Christ. She lived boldly, loved deeply, and led others to Jesus simply by being who she was. Her legacy continues in every life she touched and every heart she encouraged.

Her family finds peace in knowing she is now fully restored and at home with her Savior."I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:" 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV).

Her life was a song of worship and that song will echo on through all those who know and love Michele.

In honor of Michele’s love for worship and the hope she carried, family and friends are encouraged to attend the upcoming Sunrise Easter Service at Journey Church, celebrating the risen Savior she faithfully followed.

In loving memory of Michele, and in lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to support her son, Liam. Contributions will go directly toward Liam’s college fund, helping to provide him with future opportunities and long lasting support.
