Michael John Micek

Michael John Micek, 69 years old, of Omaha, NE passed away on December 25^th, 2022, after a fighting a long battle with aggressive metastatic cancer.

Michael was born on April 11, 1953, to Irwin and Rita Micek in Newport, Rhode Island. After a tumultuous childhood, he graduated Boys Town High School in 1972. After graduation, he worked as a machinist for most of his career for Kukers, Vickers and then in Safety for Ballantyne. In 1974, he met Jeannie Kyle, who was a single mother to Randy Kyle. Michael and Jeannie wed in the same year after a whirlwind three months. They had five more children: Melissa, Jason, Krystal, Amber, and Ashley.

Michael Micek was a hard worker who was determined to provide for his large family. Without positive parental role models, he and Jeannie continually grew as people and parents and family meant more than anything else in the world. Michael was unendingly proud of all the grandchildren. After retirement, he helped other children by being a “Foster Grandfather” at Conestoga Elementary to help children in the classroom.

Michael had many interests from taking the kids to Offutt Air Shows, building model planes and trains, fishing to rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and New England Patriots, and gambling at casinos. When not home, he could often be found on several cruises and exploring ports of call with Jeannie as they carved out new adventures.

His corny jokes, goofy laugh, and servant’s heart will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Michael was predeceased by Irwin and Rita Micek, and his sister, Rita.  He is survived by his wife, Jeannie, and his children, Randy Kyle Micek, Melissa Shipley, Jason Micek, Krystal Russell, Amber Micek, Ashley Zellmer, 25 grandchildren and his siblings, Paul, Debbie, and Cynthia.

Services will be held on Wednesday (1/4/2023) at Roeder Mortuary, 4932 Ames Avenue, Omaha, NE.  Visitation from 11 AM to 12 PM. Funeral Service at 12 PM.  Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
