Michael "Mickey" Legon Butler was born March 1952 in Omaha, Nebraska and he departed this life on December 1, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. He was raised in church and as a child he attended Faith Temple Church of God in Christ where his parents were in leadership roles.
Michael served in the Unites States Marine Corp. From 1972-1974. He was married to the mother of his daughter's Bonnie Butler from August 1975-1978, but he has always been a loving, involved, and caring father and grandfather. Michael also had a long career doing janitorial work at FBG.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ida Mae Tate, stepfather Homer Tate Sr., brothers Ronald Butler, Samuel and Charles Tate, and Sister Deborah Staton. Michael is survived by his twin daughters Michelle and Michala Butler. Grandchildren Shae'Kell Butler (Clair), Eriayana Frazier, Mehki Butler, Erice Butler Tyler, great grandson KeMari Holloway, his brothers Baron Butler, Homer Tate Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Michael enjoyed spending time with his loved ones eating out, attending birthday parties, and other family celebrations, and gatherings. He especially liked spending time with his grandchildren golfing, attending their basketball and football games, and theater/short film productions.
Michael was always known for being cool and coming out clean and dressed sharp with his shades, jewelry, and a hat matching from head to toe. He was also an avid Lakers, Cowboys, and golf fan. He loved listening to rap music and his favorite artist was Michael Jackson.
Michael will be missed by all of his loved ones.
Visitation: Friday from 5 - 7 PM at mortuary. Funeral Service: 11 AM Saturday (12/10/2022) at Roeder Mortuary, 4932 Ames Avenue Omaha, Nebraska.
