Melvinie E. Armstrong

Melvinie Eleanor Armstrong was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Jessie Howard Montgomery and Geneva Laurine Mayfield on July 23, 1948

Melvinie worked 16 years at a downtown hotel in housekeeping. She met the love of her life Maurice Armstrong and they were married for 43 years.

Melvinie was baptized at the age of 24, at the Church of God in Christ.  Melvinie met Maurice Armstrong and the two were married in Omaha, Nebraska.  They have three sons; Maurice Armstrong, Jr., Andrew Armstrong and Joseph Armstrong. 

Melvinie loved going to church with her family and friends, cooking, baking, playing ball with her sons, going to movies, riding her bike, shopping and keeping the house clean.  As she cleans the house she will sing “Rock the Beat”and ride her bike.

Melvinie is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Geneva Montgomery; siblings Victor Montgomery, Earl Montgomery, Frank Montgomery, Erma Montgomery, Sterling Montgomery, Georgia Montgomery.  Left to cherish her memory are her husband Maurice, sons, Maurice Jr. and Joseph, sisters Mary (Wright) Montgomery and Maggie Montgomery and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
