Melissa Jean McClellan

Gretna - Melissa (Missy) McClellan was born in Omaha, Nebraska and lived her entire life in Gretna. Where she met her love, Charlie. Together they raised three amazing sons which lead to two sweet grandsons. Missy loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Missy was wonderful with children and dedicated much of her life to caring for many of those in the Gretna area; each one who she cared for and remembered fondly. Missy’s face would always light up as she told amusing stories about her days with the kids.

Missy showed this same immense care for all who entered her life. She would do anything for those she loved at the drop of a hat and she perfectly represented the idea that you don’t have to share blood to be treated like family. Her love for others could be felt through her big, warm hugs. She will be remembered for her beautiful soul and her infectious smile that could brighten anyone’s day.

Missy is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Barbara McClellan. She is survived by her partner Charlie Van Dalsem, children; Marc Tubbs, Seth Van Dalsem, and Mason Van Dalsem, grandchildren; Calvin and Mac Tubbs, brothers and sisters; Kirk and Sally McClellan, Steve and Rita McClellan, Kent and Joanne McClellan, Lisa and Jr Yates, Kevin and Gerri McClellan, Bill McClellan, and Lori McClellan, and many nieces, nephews, other family, and life long friends.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held for Missy at the Gretna American Legion on Saturday, October 5th from 1-5pm. If you have any photos or stories of Missy that you would like to share, we welcome you to send them to her son Seth at svandalsem.svad@gmail.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (afsp.org) be made in Missy’s honor.
