Maxine Johnson

Maxine (Lyons) Johnson, 78, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17th, 2026, surrounded by family. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and she will be deeply missed.

Maxine was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on July 6th, 1948, to Gene and Pauline Lyons of Nehawka, Nebraska. She had a life-long passion for reading and had a large collection of books that she loved to share with others. Maxine worked in community banking most of her career. She also loved working at Lechner Family Orchard during the fall. She was an avid watcher of Hallmark movies and Nebraska Volleyball. Maxine also enjoyed spending time with a dear family pet, Molly. Maxine’s favorite places were Kill Devil Hills and the Outer Banks, both in North Carolina.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Cassie Lyons. She is survived by her children: Jeff (Lori) Johnson of Yukon, Oklahoma; Jason Johnson of Park City, Utah; Jennifer (Thomas) Buckner of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Justin (Natalie) Johnson of Lincolnton, North Carolina; brother Randy (Vicki) Lyons of Gretna, Nebraska, and 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal services for her as per her request. Memorials are suggested in her name to the Alzheimer's Association .
