Maxine Joyce Hall was the eldest daughter born to Harold Artemis Danels and Velma Susan Danels (McAfee) in Ottumwa, Iowa on January 19th, 1931. Inspired by her father’s value of education, she earned her elementary teaching certificate attending Iowa State Teachers College and taught multiple grades her first year in a one room schoolhouse. She met her husband of 57 years, Owen S. Hall, in Ottumwa when both were singing in the choir at First Methodist Church. They had three daughters, Sue, Ellen, and Laura. In 1966, Owen’s work brought the young family to Omaha and the home Maxine loved dearly and shared with him for the rest of their days. Maxine completed her bachelor's degree in Education and Library Science at the University of Nebraska Omaha in 1972. She then worked for the Omaha Public Schools as a library media specialist, teaching primarily at JG Master's Elementary. After her retirement in 1992, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and helping her daughters with their five grandchildren. Also in her retirement, Maxine and Owen became Charter members of Living Faith Methodist Church in 1998. Besides spending time with her family, her favorite thing, Maxine enjoyed creating beauty inside and outside her home with flowers in her yard, and decorating her home for the seasons. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, and planning family gatherings. Through her last years, she was able to enjoy attending the many birthday parties for her fourteen great grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, dear parents and sisters, Arlene (Danels) Dooley, and Janice Danels. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Sue and Glenn Harmon, Ellen and Fred Shultz, Laura and Larry Leeds, and grandchildren, Matthew Shultz, Ken and Melissa Svehla, Beth and Mike Dunn, Tom Svehla and Nickie Brewer, and Melissa and Mark Rossell, and fourteen great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
