Maureen M. Adamowicz

Maureen Marjorie Miller was born October 9, 1946, in Minnesota and passed on January 5, 2026. For those who knew Maureen early in life, they would have said she was a bright and shining light that lit up any room she entered. They would also have been quick to note her quirky sense of humor, her passion for music and singing, her steadfast devotion to her family and her passion for an ongoing journey in her relationship with Christ.

Maureen grew up in Beardsley, MN and was one of six children. Maureen loved to run and play, and she was said to be the fastest runner in the area. She eventually graduated from high school in Beardsley, MN in 1964. After graduating high school, Maureen’s travels brought her to Yellowstone National Park where she met her husband to be, Michael Adamowicz. She then moved to Long Island, NY, was married and then spent over a year overseas, primarily in Pisa, Italy where her only child Michael, whom she loved with all her heart, was born.

After returning to NY, Maureen completed a bachelor’s degree in English with a goal of being an English teacher. She later also attended Hofstra University with a goal of becoming fluent in Italian. One of Maureen’s greatest gifts however was her ability to bring joy, humor and warmth to any situation. She loved to tell stories and jokes and be a source of light for others, and above all else, she loved to sing. Her home was often filled with the sound of her beautiful voice as she sang along with some of her favorite artists, and she went as far as eventually taking professional singing lessons and making some of her own recordings.

Unfortunately, long before God brought her home, Maureen began to suffer from severe struggles with mental illness, and these struggles continued for the rest of her life. The quality of her life began to suffer, and in many ways, her illness took her from her family many years prior to her passing. Her son Michael recently wrote, “My mom was a beautiful light earlier in her life and I miss her very much. Before her mental illness took hold, she was my rock and my protector and it was she who taught me how to love, laugh, have fun, be humble and open my heart up to God.” For those who knew her best, they know that her passing is not a loss, but rather a sign of God’s grace and a milestone marking the end of her suffering and the beginning of her ability to be whole again and singing in heaven at the feet of Jesus.

Maureen is survived by her only son Michael and his wife Anne, their daughters Natalia and Deborah Adamowicz and their granddaughter Elaina Adamowicz. She is also survived by one sibling, her sister Mary Jarrous, and her extended family who are dotted around the country.
