Mattie Bass was born on April 18, 1963 in Shuqualak, Mississippi to the parents of Gloris Bonaparte and John Johnson.
After graduating high school, Mattie dedicated majority of her life working in the healthcare industry nurturing patients during their difficult times. She loved helping others and found it a valuable and rewarding career.
Mattie was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Mattie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She was always present when they needed her.
She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. One thing about her, was her comical facial expressions. You would have to know her, to understand the type of looks she was giving you. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening. She will be deeply missed.
Mattie is preceded in death by her Father John Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory her Husband; Robert Bass, Daughters, Latasha Lasher and Tiffany Johnson. Son; Bobby Johnson, Mother; Gloris Johnson. Brothers; James Johnson, Henry Johnson, Billy Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, John A. Johnson, John H. Johnson Jr., and Jerry Johnson. Grandchildren; DeaJa Johnson, Caske’ Pappan, and Nikole Lasher. Greatgrandchild; Gabriel Johnson-Arreola. A host of relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Mattie’s Life will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Roeder Mortuary, 4932 Ames Ave.
