Mary Ann Broman

Elkhorn - Mary Ann “K.C.” (Christensen) Broman, 82, passed away at Life Care Center in Elkhorn, NE on October 23, 2024 after a long illness. K.C. was born on February 5th, 1942, the daughter of Elmer and Frances Christensen. She was raised in the community of Ogallala NE alongside her younger brother, Gene, and was involved in academia, music and dance. After high school, K.C. attended Chadron State College before attending the University of Nebraska and graduating with a B.S. degree in education with a focus on mathematics and chemistry. In 1964, she married Don Broman and together they shared four children: Parker, Jason, Meredith and Chandler. While raising her children in Comstock and Sargent NE, K.C. again exercised her musical and artistic talents by singing in her local church choir and creating paintings, calligraphy and many sewing projects. She often socialized by playing bridge and teaching catechism to young children at the Catholic Church. After moving to North Platte, NE in 1988, K.C. worked for many years as an office manager for North Platte Monument Company. K.C. fiercely loved her children as well as those who supported them. She was proud of each of her four kids for their own individual talents and abilities. Her years becoming “Nana” to her grandchildren were a treasured period for her. Nothing brought joy to her heart more than spending time with her family and often sharing the tradition of going to Cody Park and enjoying a twist cone in the summer. K.C. was a fan of classical music and the Nebraska Huskers, found the beauty in all things, and was a wonderful cook and baker. She will be remembered for her grace and class, empathy, quiet and profound strength, self-sacrificing nature, gracious ability to forgive and for always taking the moral high road. K.C. is survived by her children, Parker (Barb), Jason (Tabitha), Meredith (Eric) and Chandler (Monica); brother Gene; and 13 grandchildren. A memorial will be held at a future date.
