11/8/1935 - 3/16/2021Council Bluffs - Marlin R. Ackerman, age 85 passed away March 16, 2021 with his brother and sister lovingly by his side. Marlin was born November 8, 1935 in Atlantic, IA to the late Ross and Velma Ackerman. Marlin was the oldest of four children and attended grade school and high school in Griswald, IA. He attended Simpson College and proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserves. Marlin married Janice Ackerman and moved to Kansas City, MO. Soon after they moved to Omaha, NE where he pursued a 25 year career in Real Estate Sales. He retired as owner with The Real Estate Book of Omaha. Marlin is survived by his children John , Mark , Kara Soo & Ed Soo, grandchildren John, Madison, Jack, Graham, Katie, siblings David, Larry, Sherryl Kehm, nieces Michelle, Annie, nephews Patrick, Tyler, Ross, many family and friends. Some of Marlin's favorite memories revolved around his athletic abilities in high school. Marlin played varsity baseball, basketball and football and was very talented at sports. He went on to play football in college for Simpson. Marlin loved spectating the Nebraska Cornhuskers, KC Royals, Chiefs and Creighton Bluejays Basketball. He enjoyed musical entertainment, Fox News and playing cards with his buddies at The Donut Stop in Omaha, NE. He was a member of Timothy Lutheran in Council Bluffs, IA and adored Pastor Petri and his warm and friendly church congregation. Marlin enjoyed 3 years of community living and new friendships at Allen Place in Atlantic, IA. He will be greatly missed by many. Visitation Friday 10 - 11 AM. Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Roeder Mortuary. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
