Mark D. Wingate

Mark Douglas Wingate, age 61, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, in Omaha. Mark was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, to Douglas Wingate and Barbara “Bobbie” Wingate. He graduated from Boys Town in 1983. In 1991, Mark earned an Associate of Science degree in Welding from Southeast Community College, beginning a career built on his skill, dedication, and hard work. Mark worked as a welder at Kawasaki in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 1990 until 2010. In 2014, he began working at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as a maintenance supervisor, a position he held until the time of his passing. Family was an important part of Mark’s life. He was married to DiAnn Wingate for 12 years before their separation in 2002. Mark was the proud father of his daughter: Autumn Wingate; and his stepdaughter: Shannon Newsham, whom he raised as his own. He was also a grandfather to four grandchildren: Brecken Wingate, Ezmerae Krull, Chey Wilson, and Camden Buchanan. Mark is survived by his children, grandchildren, brothers: Tony Wingate and Chris Wingate; sister: Amy Wingate Arandus; and sister-in-law: Marnie Littler; along with other family and loved ones who will carry his memory with them. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara “Bobbie” Wingate, and his brother, Matthew Wingate.
