Marion Ruth Janecek was born in Omaha, NE on December 14, 1931 to Herbert and Verda Peterson. She married George Janecek and they shared nearly 70 years together raising 8 daughters. She was a dedicated, gracious, and loving wife and mother.
Her numerous grandchildren and greats brought her joy. Just thinking of them made her smile. She had many, many friends. Her amazing life was very active and full of wonderful accomplishments.
Passionate about painting, Marion belonged to the Omaha Artists and had many close friends in the art community. Her beautiful paintings were often displayed at shows throughout Omaha. She also shared her talents by teaching art classes to foreign refugees. Her artistic creativity also extended into the kitchen. She rarely used a recipe and every meal created, was delicious and healthy.
Marion loved the outdoors. She and George were expert gardeners and they worked very hard to have a successful harvest for all to enjoy. She always kept the pantry full of her canned produce. As a true nature lover, she had vast knowledge of plants and animals. She knew every bird and squirrel in her yard!
Over her lifetime, she visited many places in the US and Mexico. She loved traveling with George and in later year with her daughters. Especially the scenic backroads and small highways so she could see the landscapes.
She loved reading and learning. She played piano at a young age and continued playing well all her life. She enjoyed polka dancing, sewing, swimming, ice skating, and volunteering.
Marion always found joy in life and appreciated each day as a gift. She shared stories and laughter. She shared her wisdom. She gave lots of love. Her cheerful voice and sweet giggle will be missed.
