Marilyn M Huetson passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024 at the age of 92. She was born January 22, 1932 to Kenneth and Alma (Varner) Martin of Adams, NE. Marilyn attended Adams High School where she participated in cheerleading and in glee club. She was the main soloist for the club, often receiving top honors at singing competitions.
She met her husband Willard, also of Adams, at the age of 5. They were high school sweethearts and were married on April 2, 1949. Together they had 6 children; Beverly (Ivan) Young, Rick (Nancy) Huetson, Larry (Deb) Huetson, Randy (Jeff) Huetson, Andrea (David) Mach and Holly (Jeremy) Kirby, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. They resided together in Gretna Ne for most of their life. Marilyn was a strong, kind, caring and giving woman who always put the needs of her family before her own. Her children were her everything and she was an inspiration to us all.
During their time in Gretna, they were members of the Methodist Church where she was part of the women’s circle group.
She was an accomplished pianist and could play by ear- often entertaining her family throughout the years. She also brought joy to her fellow residents at Hillcrest Mable Rose. When she played they would all gather around the piano to listen.
Coming from a long line of newspaper publishers, Marilyn was also an amazing writer. You could find her articles in both the Adams Globe and the Sterling Sun, and later on she would publish poems in the Omaha World Herald.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
