Marie Lucas, 91 of Omaha, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at Newport House surrounded by her family. She was born in Iowa, and met Bob Lucas at Mutual United Insurance Company where they both worked. They fell in love and she stayed home to raise their five girls and one boy. Her priorities were faith and family. She had a special way of making each of her children feel like number one in her heart. She sewed Easter outfits for them and often was up at the wee hours of morning to finish a prom dress or a costume and later sewed Christmas tree skirts and quilts. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, and reading. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed two trips to Sweden, her Caribbean cruise and her Alaska cruise. The last months of her life were not pleasant, but she kept a smile on her face through it all. She was amazing and a good example for living life. Thank you, mom.
Preceded in death by beloved husband of 55 years Robert Lucas, grandson Chad Illgner, son-in-law Rich Larsen. Survived by children Mary Larsen, Beth (Jim) Cullison, Joan (Craig) Edmundson, Ann Illgner, Patti (Jim) Swoboda, and Steven (Kelli) Lucas, sister Sandra (Virgil) Fry, brother Jerry (Bonnie) Perkins, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.
